Art BuffetArt Buffet proved to be an exciting class this summer! Students created a variety of projects and started with a dinosaur on scratchboard. Next, they created abstract self-portraits with various designs incorporated throughout. Our sculpture projected ran with that idea, as students made 3D self-portraits that were finished with glaze. Next up was a weaving project done on a circle loom. Students mounted their weavings on backgrounds with patterned designs. Our final project was to create an acrylic painting on canvas board, using a subject matter of each student's choice. I loved working with the kids in this class! Sculpture SpectacularStudents in Sculpture Spectacular had a spectacular time creating their works of art this summer! We began the class by making two different types of relief sculptures. The first was an aquarium and the second was a self-portrait. Both were finished with glaze, which I think looks especially nice on the aquariums. Following this project we looked and blue and white pottery from China to England (and everywhere in between) and created our own version using a coil technique. These were finished with acrylic paint. Next, the class made a Model Magic sculpture of an endangered animal, complete with a 3D habitat for it. Our last project was to bring in recyclable materials and make a sculpture using them. I hope your child had a great time!
